With over 200 locations worldwide, Au Bon Pain provides authentic artisan breads and inspired menus; their bustling marketplaces allow guests to personally select fresh menu choices from individual stations. They were in need of a standard menu board system that would work for all locations and store footprints. Their challenges included soffit, ceiling and wall mount applications, varying mounting heights and, in some cafés, limited space.
We developed a modular, universal menu board system for a national rollout. The back structure was constructed so it can be adjusted to meet any size requirement. The system was also engineered in a way that the same structure can be used for ceiling, wall and soffit mounting. A variety of menu panel sizes can then be placed on the frame to create the desired menu board palette. In late 2011, at ABP’s request, we developed wider panels in two heights to accommodate various locations. A system-wide upgrade was then rolled out in early 2012.
